Linda Somers Smith

Linda Somers Smith is a partner of the firm. She has a diverse legal background, which serves the wide-ranging needs of her business clients throughout the Central Coast. The focus of Ms. Smith’s practice is business formation and transaction law and general counsel advice, with an emphasis in real property and health care. She also advises her clients on regulatory compliance issues, contracting, strategic alliances and mergers/acquisitions. A graduate of Martin Luther King, Jr. School of Law at University of California at Davis, Ms. Smith is rated AV® Preeminent by Martindale-Hubbell, the highest peer review rating given to attorneys based on legal ability and ethical standards.

LEGAL EXPERIENCE

Ms. Smith started out her practice in the public agency, employment and health care field in Sacramento and the Bay Area before relocating to San Luis Obispo in 1996. Her practice now is primarily devoted to providing legal assistance and counseling to individuals and businesses as general and special counsel. Ms. Smith prides herself on taking the time to understand her client’s business needs and personal preferences to ensure she provides the best advice and service.

PRIOR WORK HISTORY

Upon graduating from law school, Ms. Smith practiced law in Sacramento and the Bay Area, until relocating to San Luis Obispo in 1996. She was the majority owner and managing principal of the San Luis Obispo firm Duggan Smith & Heath LLP for 15 years before bringing her practice to Adamski Moroski Madden Cumberland & Green LLP in 2015.

Ms. Smith is a member of the California Bar Association and the San Luis Obispo County Bar Association. She is a board member for the Community Foundation San Luis Obispo County and a member of the American Health Lawyers Association.

PERSONAL

In April 2011, Ms. Smith was honored as one of the “Top 50 Women in Business” in the Tri-County area by the Pacific Coast Business Times. She was recognized in the Professional Services category for her consistent leadership as the co-founder and managing partner of a majority woman-owned law firm in downtown San Luis Obispo. Ms. Smith also has competed as a world-class marathon runner, representing the United States in numerous events, including the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta. Not content with limiting expectations in sport or business, Ms. Smith graced the cover of the March 2011 edition of Running Times, after being named Outstanding Masters and Masters Performer of the Year for 2010 by USA Track and Field. In 2012 Ms. Smith competed in her fifth U.S. Olympic marathon trials and she smashed the previous U.S. marathon record for women ages 50-54 by 10 minutes. Ms. Smith is the only person to have qualified for seven U.S. Olympic trials. She was also named Road Runner of the Year for 2012 in the female master category.

Ms. Smith currently lives in Arroyo Grande with her family and a variety of large and small animals, most of which are welcome.
